About this book

In the forest of Misiones, a giant tortoise saves the man who nursed her, two young coatis disobey their mother, a flamingo pays dearly for his vanity. These eight tales give the floor to the animals of the Paraná, who work, quarrel and learn the hard way. Men pass through as hunters or as the wounded, and the forest carries on without them. The collection explores caution, mutual help and the laws of a wilderness that forgives nothing. Quiroga, who wrote for his children, joins the animal fable to the accuracy of one who lived there.

The benefits of the bilingual method with Line-by-line synced layout

Every line of the original has its translation directly beneath it, at the same height. You never lose your place: your eye drops one line and lands on exactly the sentence it just read. This is the layout that lets you open a book in a language you barely know without ever giving up, and compare the two texts almost word for word.

The excerpt shows the method using another book from the catalogue, not this one.
