Book summary

An English novel, sequel to The School for Saints. London, 1869: Robert Orange, a young Catholic Member of Parliament of French descent and a protégé of Disraeli, marries Brigit, a young widow he loves with an almost mystical devotion. On the very day of the wedding, word comes that Brigit's first husband, believed drowned, is alive: their marriage is therefore not valid. Torn between politics, his faith and the judgement of society, Orange must decide how to act, while the ambitious Lady Sara de Treverell takes an interest in him. A serious novel about love, honour and conscience.

The benefits of the bilingual method with Line-by-line synced layout

Every line of the original has its translation directly beneath it, at the same height. You never lose your place: your eye drops one line and lands on exactly the sentence it just read. This is the layout that lets you open a book in a language you barely know without ever giving up, and compare the two texts almost word for word.

The excerpt shows the method using another book from the catalogue, not this one.
